Saturday was a very busy day. In the morning after Russ went to work I took Kaitlin and Parker to the mall for Parker's baby pictures. We went to JC Penny cause I had a coupon for $3.99 portrait sheets and no sitting fees. I remember taking Kaitlin for pictures when she was 2 weeks old and she was soo good. All her pictures turned out great and I was hoping Parker's would be the same way. I guess the red hair came out in them cause he was not wanting to cooperate. The plan was to get his individual pictures done, then some with me and him, Kaitlin and him, then all three of us. He was fussy the whole time and wouldn't let me put him down, so pictures took a lot of work. Somehow, after about 25 minutes we got all the shots he was going to let us get and they actually turned out good. the camera girl must have been pretty good not to get a fussy face. My favorite picture is one of Kaitlin kissing Parker on the forehead (it's her favorite too).
We got home from picture taking around noon and I feed both Kaitlin and Parker. It has been 24 hours since Parker got his circumcision and now I was supposed to take his gauze off. The aftercare instructions said that after 24 hours to soak him in baby oil for 15 minutes and then take the gauze off and apply Vaseline. I waited till 1pm just to be safe then soaked him in baby oil for 20 minutes (I wanted to make sure the gauze would come off easy). most of the gauze came off easy except for the last half which seemed to be stuck to him. I soaked him some more, but it wasn't working and every time I would try he would cry (which made me cry). Now I decided to put the bath tub up and soak him in warm water to see if that would help. I let him sit in the warm water for 20 minutes but that didn't work either. That gauze did not want to come off and I didn't want to hurt him. After 2 hours of soaking in baby oil and warm water it finally came off (but it was no easy or fun task).
Now for the funny part!!! In between all the soaking I realized that I needed another towel. The tub was set up in the Kitchen by the sink and the towels were in my room. I couldn't leave Parker in the tub and I didn't want to put his diaper back on him because it was making him uncomfortable since the gauze was still half was on him so I picked him up naked and decided to walk to my room to get the towel. I stepped into the dining room and heard a loud squirt and then SPLAT. I looked down and Parker had decided to go poop and it shot across my dining room floor landing just short of the couch. Pretty gross, but pretty funny. I should have known better.
To top off the busy day we decided to meet up with Keith and Beverly and their little ones to take the kids bowling. Everyone had a good time and I won twice. The kids had their own lane next to ours and they had a blast since it was cosmic bowling. They all did pretty good...Kaitlin even won a game. Parker had a good time too. He was awake the whole time looking at all the cool lights. Dispite the mess the afternoon was trying to get Parkers gauze off, it turned out to be a fun night.

Poor poor little boy
Thursday March 5th Parker was 2 weeks old. I can't believe it's been 2 weeks already...although it's gone fast I feel like I've known him forever. He is soo sweet and loving...not to mention a little pig. I was worried for a while that he wasn't getting enough milk because he wants to eat so often so I started pumping to see how much he might be taking in. I was able to pump 4oz in only 5 mins so that means he was getting enough (he is really just a pig). Anyhow, now that he is 2 weeks old he can be circumcised (which is planned with the doctor for Friday the 6th at 10am).
Friday March 6th....today he gets circumcised. I dropped Kaitlin off at school at 830 am and thought I would have enough time to run back home and try to convince Russ that he didn't need to go to work and that he should go to the doctor with us. He said he would go with us, but he had someone he had to meet with and couldn't get out of it. So I headed to the doctors office with Parker. We made it there just in time (just about 10am exactly). I was hoping that they would call us back fast so we could get it over with and get out of there before Parker got hungry again (his 2 hours would be at 1030). Boy was I wrong. The Dr. was having problems with the insurance company. They tried to tell them that Parker isn't covered because his name isn't on my insurance (I had to call and complain because he is covered for 30 days under me). Everything finally got straightened out after about half an hour (putting us at 1030....uh oh feeding time). We were still waiting around a quarter till 11 (Parker still sound asleep in his car seat) and I was hoping that he would wake up so I could feed him before we went in to see the doctor. I tried everything to wake him up, but he wasn't having it. I guess being up all night the night before made him extra sleepy.
11am the doctor finally called us back. Parker was still sleeping until I had to get him undressed so they could weigh him do his regular check up. Everything looked good and he weighed in at 9lbs 4oz which the nurse said was real good since most babies are barley back to their birth weight by 2 weeks (Like I said...he is a pig). The nurse brought us back to the room and told us the doctor would be in soon and it would only be a 10 min procedure, but I was not allowed to feed him before it because they didn't want it to cause complications (by now Parker was crying because he was hungry). So I was trying to calm him down (not easy with a hungry baby). The doctor didn't get in the room for 30 more minutes (by then Parker was real hungry and I was kind of pissed that they made me wait that long and not feed him). The doctor put Parker on the table and strapped his legs down so they couldn't move. It was just me and the doctor in the room so I had to stay up by his head and try to soothe him while the doctor did his thing (I'll spare the details...I'll just say it was a horrible thing to see and I feel so bad for my little boy). My poor little guy screamed the entire time. They gave him a shot to block the pain, but I'm sure it still wasn't comfortable. Holding back my tears I stood behind him and rubbed his arms the hole time trying to make him feel a little better. The whole thing did only take 10 mins, and then I was able to hold him and feed him and make him feel better. It was so sad to watch I could never have another bay cause I wouldn't be able to go to that again.

Growing up
Last Saturday I took Kaitlin to a birthday party for a friend of hers from school at Pump it up. The party started at 1:30 and I didn't think we were going to make it in time since getting myself and two kids ready seems to take longer then I planned for. We made it there on time though and Kaitlin had a blast.
Kaitlin's friend Ashlyn was also there which was good because I was able to sit and talk to her the whole time instead of being bored. She told me that she had finals for a class she was taking coming up and thought that if Ashlyn had a friend over that night it might keep her distracted so she could get her school work done. That's when she suggested that Kaitlin come over after the party for a sleepover. The girls have been bugging us for a while now to have a sleepover so after giving it a lot of thought (a sleepover at a friends house is a big step to growing up) I said okay.
After the party ended I took Kaitlin home so she could pack her bag and head to her friends house. I must have asked her 30 times if she was sure she wanted to go and told her that she could call me whenever she wanted even if it was in the middle of the night (I always her stories of sleepovers when the girls get homesick in the middle of the night and want to go home). She kept saying that she was sure she wanted to go and that she would be fine. I guess I was more nervous then she was. She packed her bags (which contained 10 bottles of nail polish and some stuffed animals) and we headed to Ashlyn's house around 6pm.
Once we got to Ashlyn's house Kaitlin gave Ashlyn a big hug and they ran off to her room. Michelle gave me a tour of her house and I made sure she had all my contact info before I left. I gave Kaitlin a hug and kiss and remind her that she could call me if she wanted to come home. She said okay and ran off back to Ashlyn's room and I left.
I thought for sure that I would be getting a call at 2am from a crying child wanting to come home, but I was wrong. Kaitlin didn't call home until 9am. Michelle said that the girls were fine and that Kaitlin could stay till lunch, but Kaitlin said she was done and wanted to come home to see her little brother. I picked her up sometime between 930 and 10am. She was all packed up and ready to go when I got there. Michelle said the girls spent most of the time in Ashlyn's room and that gave her a chance to get her school work done. They didn't even wake her up in the morning.
When I got to the house the first thing Kailtin asked was if her little brother missed her. I told her he did and that he was waiting at home. She grabbed her bags and started to head out the door, but was stopped by Ashlyn. She Didn't want Kaitlin to leave and started to cry when Kaitlin said she wanted to go home. The girls had too much fun she didn't want her to leave, but I told her that they could play again soon. I guess I will have to host the next sleepover
