Whats on my butt????

Apparently this morning when I was sitting on the bathroom counter putting my makeup on I sat in some toothpaste. I noticed a white spot (which I thought was a hole at first) today at work when I was walking backwards making sure I didn't walk to far and unplug the pump from the outlet (good think there is a full length mirror next to it). At least I noticed it and not someone else (or they noticed and just didn't say anything).

Another loose tooth

Last night Russ' mom sent us home with ribs for dinner and the kids loved them so much they ate them all. Kaitlin even liked one so much she bit down on the down (oops) and knocked her tooth loose. Guess we will be getting another visit from the tooth fairy pretty soon.

Today isn't a good day to be a star. This morning the news reported that Farrah Fawcett died at age 62 from her long battle with cancer, and now this afternoon it is reported that Michael Jackson died at age 50 from cardiac arrest (though we are all pretty sure it was really from drugs or a botched facial surgery).

Time for solids....

Last night Parker got his first taste of rice cereal. He is only 4 months old so I was hesitant to start him on solid food because I wasn't sure if he was ready, but he proved me wrong. I only started him with a little bit, but he went right for it. The fist spoonful got pushed out of his mouth...but for the second, third and so on he opened wide and ate it up. Can't wait to start the colorful foods.

Shadow

This is Shadow...Kaitlin's birthday present from her Grandma and Grandpa. He was so calm and quiet the first day he was home. Now he is crazy and Kaitlin complains because he bites her toes. She loves him though and even likes to clean the litter box. If only I can get her to help me clean the rest of her room. :)

Broken Pump

Today I went to the bathroom to "download" milk for Parker and my pump didn't turn on. I tried it 10 times, but no luck....it was broken. NO!!!! I can't have a broken pump...I need to make bottles. I can't miss a session cause I'm afraid it would mess with my milk supply. I rushed out of work and was headed to Babies R Us to get a new one when my mom called and told me of one on Craig's list for $100. Great...I would only spend 1/3 of what a new one would cost and I could get it today. I went and picked up the pump and brought it home. I hooked everything up and it worked good, but the power supply it came with was batteries, not a outlet. I plugged my outlet in to try it and it didn't work. Man do I feel silly. I rushed around to get a new pump, spent $100 and all I really needed was a new adapter. Guess I jumped to conclusions too fast. Well, now I have an extra pump just in case one breaks.

Something is missing.....

Wednesday night Kaitlin finally lost her tooth. It has been loose for the past month and for the past couple of days she has been really wanting it out. She tried the string trick, but didn't slam the door hard enough. She tried pulling it out, but was too afraid to pull harder. I tried to get it, but loose teeth are the one thing I can't take (ewww). Russ would sneak when she was sleeping and pull it looser, but every time he got close to getting it out she would start waking up. Finally on Wednesday she asked Russ' sister Sue to pull it. She wiggled it once and POP...it was out.

Great....she was sooo exited. The tooth fairy gets to come!!! She talked the rest of the night about the tooth fairy. I asked around and found out the going rate for a first tooth is $5. I guess Charlie got $10 for his, but there is no way this tooth fairy is giving a kid $10 for a tooth. She woke up in the morning to find $5 under her pillow and was sooo excited. I'm so glad she finally got her tooth out.

Bowling with the Stars

Last night "Chicks with Balls" competed against the one and only........da na na na....Al Pachino!!!!

He didn't want anyone to find out his true identity so he went by the name "Sal" and was on a team with his not so famous friends, but that didn't fool us. We kicked their butts the first game, then they turned it around on us the next 2 games. I got three strikes and a bunch of spares...finally....I told you all I was sandbagging the first night we played.

Always a Bridesmaid......

Okay...so I've never actually been a bridesmaid unless you count last year when I was the "best woman" at my brothers wedding.

On the news this morning I saw that a California Bridal store went out of business and donated all their dresses to the Opportunity Village across the street from my office. I was talking to some of the girls (who are to remain nameless and photo less by request) and we decided to check it out just for fun...the dresses were all marked down to $199. None of us are getting married any time soon, but it sounded like fun to try on some dresses anyway. One of them....referenced made to the state of Texas (ha ha)....decided to send this photo to Russ. I'm sure he fell off a ladder when he saw it and probably won't come home tonight.

Jail bird

Yesterday morning Kaitlin started a new daycare. School is out so I signed he up at a place closer to our house that had a summer camp program. Before we got there she was so excited to go, but that all changed the minute she saw the class she was going in.
In our walk through a month ago they showed Kaitlin the big kid class with a air hockey table and basketball hoop. Well...they didn't have enough kids sign up for summer camp so they put her in with the pre-school kids. She did not like that idea at all. She was kicking and screaming and the daycare had to call me back to pick her up. I have always told her that if she ever acted like that then I would show her the jail cells at work...and that's exactly what I did.

I picked her up from the daycare and brought her straight to work. She sat in a corner for a minute while I did a few things, then we were off to the holding cells. I propped the door open and had her sit on the metal bench and think about what she did and why it was wrong. She was pretty scared to be sitting in the jail cell. I told her that was where we put bad people and what she did was bad and i want her to stop acting like that because I don't want her to end up in a jail cell when she gets older. She understood, said she was sorry and asked to go back to school.

When we got back to the daycare she apologised to everyone there and went straight into the class.

What an effective punishment. Since then she has been the perfect angle...even saying yes mom to everything. Guess I should have tried that a long time ago. I do feel bad for her having to be in the little kid class though. Granted that is no excuse for her to act the way she did. I think I might end up taking her over to the YMCA because it would be more fun for her and she can have a real "summer camp" instead of that daycare.

Soooo Embarrassed

I have never been so embarrassed. Friday night after Kaitlin got her surprise birthday present from her grandpa and grandma...(it was a cat)...I went and picked up Parker and Charlie from their grandma's house. I had to go to the store to buy food for Kaitlin's party the following day so I decided to bring the whole crew with me instead of waiting for Russ to get home...he usually doesn't get home until late.
While in the store Charlie was acting up like usual...running around knocking things over and being mean to Kaitlin so I told him to please stop or I was going to call his dad and tell him he was being bad. That just made the situation worse. He started yelling and crying and throwing a fit in the middle of the store (sitting on the ground and throwing his shoes) yelling that he didn't want his dad to spank him. Well...in the middle of all this commotion I was approached by a stranger who saw everything and told me that I might need to learn how to control him because he sees kids like that everyday where he works and if I don't stop his behavior now he will end up in his care when he gets older. Turns out the guy works for CCDC....
Needless to say I was soo embarrassed I had to leave the store and ended up forgetting to get a lot of things I needed. Guess I learned my lesson.

From one grade to the next

Last Wednesday Kaitlin graduated Kindergarten. She is getting so big...I can't believe she is going to be in first grade. The graduation was at Santa Fe Station in one of their ball rooms and there was dinner served after (a kids dinner that included sliders, mac and cheese, pizza and corn dogs). I was so disappointed because I brought my video camera out only to notice that the battery wasn't charged so I could only get 5 minutes of video. I got what I could with my camera, but I wish I had the whole thing.

The kids did an array of songs and were presented with awards and their "diplomas." It was all put together real well. I think the most memorable moment was during awards when the teacher was reading the award for most helpful and Kaitlin stood up and walked down the stage to accept the award...except it wasn't for her. She was a bit embarrassed, but she got the next award which was for most independent. It was a nice night and I'm so proud of my little...I mean big girl.

Parker found his feet on May 29th and since then he just can't leave them alone. He constantly is holding them or trying to eat them. Ummm. :)

Chicks with balls

Last Tuesday was my first night on our Tuesday night bowling team. Myself, Yelena, Dallas and Cindy decided to start kind of a "girls night" and join a bowling league. We are definitely not professional bowlers (got our butts kicked by 400 points one game), but we sure had fun. I broke 100 twice....(only by like 1 or 2 points though)....guess I need a little practice before our next game.

Happy Birthday Kaitlin

This past Saturday was Kailtin's 6th birthday. She is getting so big, I can't believe she is already 6. I wanted to do something fun for her birthday so I went online and registered her for the free birthday ticket from Disneyland.

We left for Disneyland Friday afternoon. I went and pulled her out of school early so we could hit the road by 2pm. Of course we didn't leave on time, but we were pretty close. We were all loaded up and out of town by 3pm. We got to the hotel at 7pm went to check out our room. I thought it would be a fun idea to get the "kids suite" which had a separate room for the kids with their own TV and bunk beds. They saw it and thought it was pretty fun. Kaitlin claimed the top bunk (because it was her birthday weekend I gave her the choice). After resting for a minute the kids bugged us about going down to the pool to swim. It was a heated pool but it was a little chilly outside, it didn't bother them much though.

The next day the kids woke up bright and early because we were going to Disneyland. Everyone was up and ready and out the door by 8am. We went across the street to Ihop to eat breakfast then we walked to Disneyland....yes....we walked. It was only a block away so we decided walking would save us the $20 parking fee for the day.

The park was a lot of fun. The first ride we went on was Space Mountain...I was so happy that Kaitlin would ride it with me since she is usually scared of roller coasters. After that we made our way around the park and hit the submarine ride...small world...dumbo...the carousel..and some others before lunch.

At noon we had to start heading out of the park to make it to our lunch reservations. I got us a table at Goofy's Kitchen. That was a lot of fun. The kids got to eat with the characters and Kaitlin got her own birthday cake served to her in a princess jeweler box. Parker even got to meet Goofy and Goofy kept coming back to see him. At lunch I gave Kaitlin her birthday card and $30 of Disney Dollars so she could get whatever she wanted in the park stores.

After lunch we went back over to the park and finished riding all the rides there, then went over to California Adventure. I tried to get Kaitlin to ride on the Tower of Terror with me (since she went on it with her dad), but she was too scared. I guess the one time was enough for her. We got done at that park by 730pm and went back to Disneyland for the "innoventions" experience. In there Charlie got to play the guitar of the future and me and Kaitlin played air hockey with a virtual machine.

After innoventions we decided to go to the big Disney store to let Kaitlin spend her money before we left. She had such a hard time picking things out. At first all she wanted was a light saber. Then I talked her into getting more. She ended up with the light saber, a Minnie ear hat, makeup, and I gave her a little more money so she could get some earrings too. Parker couldn't leave his first visit to Disneyland with out something so he got a Thumper bedtime story.

When we were done there we started our, at this point, long walk back to the hotel. The walk wasn't too bad, but after a day of nothing but walking we kind of wished our car was there. It was fun though. Unfortunately Kaitlin was disappointed and didn't have as much fun as she would have because Charlie was mean to her all day. She even told me in the hotel that it wasn't a good day because he was mean to her the whole day and spit in her face. I felt really bad for her, and wanted to cry. I wanted to do something fun for her birthday and she ends up having a not so great day. I hope her Birthday party this weekend will be better for her (she is getting a real big surprise from my dad....shhh it's a kitten). Hopefully next time we go it will be more fun.

Gymnastics festival

Saturday May 16th was Kaitlin's gymnastics festival in honor of the gyms birthday. She has been in gymnastics for about 9 months now and loves it. She is catching on so quick. She has her cartwheels and handstands down. She is also really good on the balance beam and almost has the bars down. The only thing she has to work at is pulling herself forward on the bars and the will move her up to a team. Go Kaitlin....

After the festival I took Kaitlin to sweet tomatoes for lunch. She loves eating there because she likes their mac and cheese and pizza bread...I like the salads. She also loves the ice cream. This time she decided to make a ice cream sandwich out of two cones. It was a fun time.

Birthday and Mothers Day in one....

May 10th this year fell on a Sunday and it also happened to be mother's day. What a great day...my day. We went out to the Geisha Steak house Saturday night for my Mother's day dinner which was great. We had a great time there like always and I got flowers for my Mother's day gift.

For the past week Russ has been talking about my birthday present, but wouldn't tell me what it was. The only clue I got was that we had to drop the kids off for 2-3 hours and it involved walking. This worried my because I couldn't even begin to imagine what we could do for 2-3 hours that involved walking. So we went in the morning and dropped the kids off with Russ' mom...after giving her the mothers day flowers and gifts the kids picked out. Then I got to find out what my surprise was.....shopping. Russ took me to the mall and told me that I had $500 to spend on whatever I wanted. I always find it real hard to spend money (especially on myself) and we only ended up spending $300, but it was a lot of fun and a good gift.

After shopping we picked the kids up and headed to my parents house for swimming and a bbq in honor of mother's day. The kids had fun swimming and grandpa was trying to teach Kailtin how to swim on her own...hopefully by the end of the summer she will have it down. Parker also got in the pool (for the first time). We all thought he would scream, but he loved it. He would scream every time we took him out because he wanted to get back in. I guess it didn't hurt that the pool felt as warm as bath water.

All in all it was a great fun day.
